Biblio and Movie Method

The Biblio and movie method uses books, movies or video clips to help an individual gain more information, knowledge and a greater understanding of the problem experienced. The individual reads certain books or sections of a book or watches a particular movie and discusses it with a facilitator.

Depending on the context, such a discussion might be with a therapist, spouse, family member, close friend or in a group session with others experiencing similar obstacles.

The Biblio and Movie method aims to help individuals explore and grasp…

  • Perspectives other than their own and make sense of a difficult past, upsetting symptoms or disturbing circumstances.
  • Experience feelings of hope, contentment, empathy and that things are not necessarily as bad as they may appear at first.
  • Improving self-esteem, self-awareness and feelings of self-efficiency.
